Fix Things

I want to fix things

Make things better

I want to encourage the world

With poetic love letters

I want to mend broken hearts

And weave marriages torn apart

I want to love all unloved children

And raise them as my own

Show them they are special and worthy

God’s very own

I want to mentor youth

Teach them how to lead

Help them find their way

So their dreams they can achieve

I want to make people stop hurting each other

Killing, stealing, cheating, abusing one another

I want to make countries stop fighting wars

And take a closer look and ask what they are fighting for

I want to heal the sick

Fix things, fix things real quick

Before we destroy ourselves

Hide our beauty on the shelves

I want to shelter the homeless

And feed the hungry

Make things better for you and me

But that’s not my job, not my responsibility

I can’t fix everything

It’s not my capability

So what can I do?

I’ll get down on my knee and pray

Ask God to fix me

So at the very least

I can fix what I can

With the strength of my Father’s hands

His Word:

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Ephesians 2:10 NIV
